OKLAHOMA CITY—A local school district is starting early in its search for a few good teachers.

The Oklahoma City Public School District is hosting its annual “Teacher Recruitment Fair” on Tuesday, March 5 at 5 p.m. inside U.S. Grant High School.

Organizers say most districts begin searching for teachers in late April or May but Oklahoma City wants to get an early start on finding the best educators the state has to offer.

Chuck Tompkins, OKCPS executive director of human capital, said, “Our goal is to add highly qualified teachers who believe in our students and support the current efforts to make OKCPS a world-class school district.”

Organizers say they are looking for pre-kindergarten teachers, bilingual classroom assistants, certified ESL teachers, as well as middle and high school teachers.

Applicants should come appropriately dressed, bring resumes and expect on-site interviews.

Potential employees are also asked to fill out the online employment application.
