OKLAHOMA – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the NW half of Oklahoma.
The Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Sunday afternoon for breezy conditions and low humidity for the western half of Oklahoma.
Oklahoma City Fire Department asks for Okla. residents to take extra precaution to prevent wild fires and “keep leaves and tall grass away from homes.” “Use extreme caution when exposing any open flame or combustible mechanism.”
Fire crews are continuing to work over time across the state.
Wild fires continued to spread rapidly through out the week as high winds and dry weather worked its way through the state.
On Friday, the Canadian County Board of Commissioners acknowledged that an extreme fire danger exists in Canadian County.
Officials issued a burn ban for its residents in Canadian County.
