CANTON, Okla.– OSBI and OHP searched Canton Lake for new evidence in a 2015 murder case.

OSBI officials say in October of 2015, 18-year-old Caylee Massey and a man she was traveling with picked up a hitchhiker near Canton.

Authorities believe that hitchhiker, Christopher Scruggs, shot Massey as they were driving.

Massey died from her injuries.

Authorities are still looking for Scruggs.

They believe any evidence they may find at or near the lake could lead them to him.

The 23-year-old is also accused of nearly beating a man to death about two weeks before he allegedly killed Massey.

He has served time in prison for a list of crimes, including burglary and animal cruelty.

Some law enforcement officials told NewsChannel 4 that he is possibly one of the most dangerous individuals they have dealt with.

At this time, there is no word on if authorities found anything at the lake.
