OKLAHOMA CITY -- A popular burlesque club has implemented new security measures following a mass shooting at an Orlando night club this past summer.

In June, a gunman killed 49 people who were enjoying a night out at Pulse night club in Orlando.

Also, 53 people were injured in the attack.

"After that situation, we definitely felt like it was necessary," Kellen King, the bar manager of Dollhouse Lounge and Burlesque, said.

Now, managers at the Dollhouse Lounge and Burlseque club are taking precautions to ensure the same thing doesn't happen in Bricktown.

"Immediately afterwards, we wanted to kind of be proactive just so we could help people feel more comfortable when they came in," King said.

Now, there's a warning posted for all club-goers asking for patience in exchange for safety.

"I explain to them why we're doing it. It's ensuring your safety, making sure as you're coming out at night. People want to come to a night club have fun and know that their safety is involved as they go home each night," Dakota Ash, with the security team, said.

They've added extra security staff and metal detectors.

"Everybody seems really appreciative. I've never had any complaints. I've never had anybody argue or give me a hassle about it," Ash said.

"When we have customers come in, we want them to have fun and make memories and our job is to make them comfortable. So we want to take care of everything else so when they come in they only have to worry about having a good time," King said.

The owner said they've never had any security issues, but this is just one way to ensure that they never have any.

Part of the sign at the club reads, “Your job is to have fun creating memories and our job is to make sure they’re never tarnished.”
