OKLAHOMA CITY – A young girl is being honored for her quick-thinking to keep her little sister safe during an emergency.

According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, 10-year-old Eliana was at home with her little sister when smoke from a nearby apartment started filling their home.

Eliana remembered what she had learned while watching a TV message on fire safety.

She immediately got low to the ground, grabbed her sister and put her on her back. She then crawled to safety and called 911 at a neighbor’s home.
