OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man is facing life in prison for allegedly traveling to Colorado to bring a 13-year-old to Oklahoma City to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

Officials say 43-year-old Mark Sumpter pleaded guilty to the charges Monday.

According to court documents, on June 27, 2014, the Oklahoma City Police Department notified the FBI they had located an endangered 13-year-old runaway girl who was reported missing in Douglas County, Colorado.

Authorities say Sumpter and the 13-year-old had communicated through websites, Skype, and mobile apps.

According to officials, after exchanging messages and sexually explicit photos, Sumpter traveled to Colorado to pick up the girl and returned to Oklahoma City where they stayed for several days.

Officials say Sumpter and the teenage girl were together from June 21, 2014, to June 27, 2014.

During this time, Sumpter engaged in illicit sexual conduct with the 13-year-old.

He is facing a minimum of ten years and up to life in prison.

Officials say a sentencing hearing will be set by the court in 90 days.
