OKLAHOMA CITY-Now is the time to start thinking about being part of the 2016 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
Registration for the event opens on Labor Day, September 7th.
Voted one of the 12 ‘must run’ Marathons in the world by Runner’s World magazine, there’s a run for everyone including the Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, 5K and Kids Run.
The Memorial Marathon is a Boston qualifying USATF sanctioned race and the Oklahoma City National Memorial’s largest fundraiser.
This event supports and preserves the privately owned Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum dedicated to those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever by the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City.
Since its start in 2001, it has grown continuously and now attracts approximately 25,000 runners each year. From the inspirational 168 seconds of silence at the Start Line to the powerful Finish Line, it’s a Run ToRemember.
“Running the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is so symbolic of our lives and the course of healing over the past two decades since the Oklahoma City bombing. Runners have to work extra hard training, preparing and planning to get to the Finish Line,” said Kari Watkins, Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Race Director and Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Executive Director.
The 2016 Memorial Marathon is April 24. For more information and to register go to OKCMarathon.com.
