NEW YORK –  Oklahoma City was named one of America’s 50 Best Running Cities by Runner’s World Magazine.

Today, Runner’s World, the world’s largest and most influential media brand in running, announced its inaugural list of America’s 50 Best Running Cities as part of the magazine’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Oklahoma City is ranked 49th.

Editors analyzed over 250 U.S. cities to compile a definitive list of the best cities for runners of all levels, featured in the October issue on newsstands beginning September 6.

“Runner’s World is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and we wanted to find a way to honor the best running communities across America and the increased popularity in the sport,” says David Willey, editor in chief of Runner’s World. “Last year, there were 44.5 million participants – men and women, from beginners to marathoners – and we’re also seeing an upward trend of urban running, which shows with major cities like San Francisco, Boston, Washington, DC and New York topping our list.”
