OKLAHOMA CITY - It was around the lunch hour when folks in northeast Oklahoma City heard a hail of gunfire.

Witnesses say a man had been shot in the parking lot of "The Corner Market" near NE 18 and Martin Luther King Avenue.

By the time police and paramedics arrived, there was little anyone could do to the victim.

"When police arrived, they found the victim laying on the parking lot," said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Witnesses, who asked not to go on camera for fear of retaliation, say the victim was struck at least five times.

We spotted, at least, seven shell casings all over the parking lot.

Authorities don't know why an argument inside escalated so quickly.

"This started out as an argument inside the convenience store. It spilled out into the parking lot between two men. One was armed with a gun, shot the other and fled in a vehicle," Knight said.

Police are canvassing the area for clues and interviewing witnesses.

But all they know right now is one man is dead and his killer is on the loose.

At this point, police have not released the name of the victim.
