OKLAHOMA CITY – The parents of a 3-year-old boy say he is lucky to be alive after nearly drowning Thursday evening.

Officers were called to the 3300 block of N.W. 36th St. after the boy went under water sometime around 6 p.m.

The child was pulled from the water and a family friend quickly began CPR.

A short time later, Officer Steven Cholity, with the Oklahoma City Police Department,  showed up and took over. Police say at that time, the boy had no pulse and was not breathing.

He continued to perform CPR and the child eventually coughed up water and started to cry.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
