Oklahoma deputies arrest teen patient suspected of arson at treatment facility

CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. – Cleveland County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 17-year-old girl accused of starting a fire at Norman treatment center.

Firefighters say the fire started  Dec. 18 at 9:13 p.m. at the Southern Plains Treatment Services center on 12th Avenue NE in Norman.

According to firefighters, the fire damaged a bathroom and laundry room inside the center.

Deputies spoke with facility staff members who said a 17-year-old girl who was under treatment at the facility possibly started the fire.

According to deputies, the suspect admitted to starting the fire.

The girl was arrested as a youthful offender on a first-degree arson complaint.

Her name is not being released at this time.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
