GUTHRIE, Okla. - A man has been charged with trying to steal a pickup truck with a little boy inside.

Fortunately, the boy's father managed to stop the suspect in his tracks.

Just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sean Dunagan was putting gas into Kristina Hoel's car at a Guthrie gas station while his 5-year-old boy waited in his truck.

"He came out of nowhere, literally," Hoel said.

A man, who was later identified as 28-year-old Robert Bell, walked up to Dunagan's truck and got into the driver's seat.

"That was the scariest I've ever been," Hoel said. "I don't want to do it again. I've never been that scared in my life."

"[I felt] just fear, man, fear and anger," Dunagan said. "I thought I was never going to see my little boy again."

Dunagan says he immediately jumped on Bell to get him out of the truck and away from his son.

Meanwhile, Hoel opened the passenger door and grabbed the little boy.

Once she put him safely in her vehicle, she went back to help hold Bell until police arrived on the scene.

"When we were trying to get him out of the truck, he was trying to tell us he was scared," Hoel said. "He [said he] was running from some guy that he thought was going to kill him."

"At one point, he started choking me," Dunagan said. "It was crazy, man."

Store surveillance video caught the struggle on camera, along with the  moment a Guthrie police officer threw Bell to the ground.

The officer suffered a cut to his head and needed stitches at a local hospital.

Guthrie police said that officer is doing fine and is back at work.

Bell was arraigned Thursday at the Logan County courthouse.

"I'm pressing charges on him," Dunagan said. "I want to get this guy off the streets. I don't want anybody else's children to have to endure something like this, or anybody to have to go through this. I want this guy locked away for sure."

Bell is facing charges of assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer and attempted larceny of a motor vehicle.
