CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. – A local deputy is recovering after being stabbed in the face.
The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred Sunday around 2:55 p.m.
Officials say a woman called authorities and told them her husband, Jimmy Quisenberry, hit her and was destroying their home.
She also said she thought her husband was under the influence of drugs.
When deputies arrived, they questioned Quisenberry about the incident.
As they were talking with Quisenberry’s wife, the man walked into a closet and refused to open the door.
According to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies were finally able to open the door, Quisenberry charged at one deputy with a piece of plastic and stabbed the deputy under his eye.
Officials say the deputy drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a stab wound. He was later released.
“Deputies arrive at work each shift ready to help people even if that means risking their own lives,” Sheriff Joe Lester said. “This incident is just an example of the danger that deputies encounter when they respond to a call.”
Quisenberry was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer and domestic assault and battery/abuse.
