A new study ranks Oklahoma as one of the best states to live in as a tax payer.

A group of Harvard and Berkeley researchers released the findings as part of The Equality of Opportunity Project.

So which states seem to have the “least burdensome” taxes?

WalletHub.com reported Wyoming comes in at No. 1 with the lowest tax rates for residents.

New York brings up the rear with the highest tax rates in the U.S.

Our own Sooner State is almost average at No. 20 with just a 2-percent lower rate than the national average.

However, Oklahoma ranks among the worst for food tax rates at No. 47.

Especially considering 38 states do not tax food at all.

Another interesting fact, red states impose lower tax rates than blue states.
