MUSTANG, Okla. – Some Oklahoma students are $1,500 richer thanks to a dragon they made out of milk cartons.

Students at Mustang Elementary used 34,424 milk cartons to create this replica of “Smaug,” the dragon from the latest “Hobbit” movie.

The students covered hundreds of cartons with glitter and gold sequins to create the dragon’s precious treasure.

The reptile’s head and tail are also made out of the recycled containers, covered with hundreds of hand-cut scales.

The school said it is planning to use the money to buy new gym equipment.
