CATOOSA, Okla. (KJRH)  – A Catoosa teacher has been suspended with pay after she was accused of piling kids into her car and putting two kids in the trunk to run an errand.

The school board set a hearing for the teacher to fight a possible firing.

Parents claim Heather Cagle left Wells Middle School with 11 kids and drove to Wal-Mart to get snacks.

The yearbook teacher is accused of loading 11 kids into her Honda Accord and drove to Wal-Mart.

Two of those children, including Julia’s 12-year-old granddaughter, were put inside the car’s trunk.

“What if on the way to Wal-Mart, that trunk had been hit? Those children could have died. What if those children, wandering around Wal-Mart, one of them got snatched?” Julia asked.

According to the police report, two children rode in the trunk and others sat on the floorboards without seat belts.

“What errand did she have to really run that she was willing to endanger her job, livelihood and position? Apparently, something pretty important,” Julia said.

Board members decided to give Cagle a due process hearing in December.

According to an agenda obtained by KJRH, the superintendent recommends firing Cagle.
