MARLOW, Okla. – A settlement has been reached in the case of the Oklahoma high school teacher who was suspended over a controversial quote posted on his classroom wall.

In November, Steven Alcorn, a history teacher from Marlow, Oklahoma, was suspended over a drawing of a grey cat and a quote paraphrasing a Benjamin Franklin letter known today as “Advice to a Young Man on Choosing a Mistress.”

The Marlow school board was reportedly considering disciplinary action against Alcorn.

According to KSWO, Alcorn confirmed Monday that he reached an agreement with the school district and will not be returning to his job.

Details of the settlement were not immediately available.

The school board is scheduled to vote on the settlement Tuesday night.
