CHICKASHA, Okla.- The City of Chickasha has developed a new technique to protect citizens in case of an emergency.

The city is encouraging everyone to create a Smart911 Safety Profile as part of their emergency plan.

The Smart911 is a free feature to citizens and provides emergency responders with vital information when they call 911.

Officials say when a profile is created, all your information becomes linked to your phone number.

When dispatchers receive a 911 call, they can immediately pull up your address and other pertinent information to help crews get to you faster.

Smart911 was created in October of last year and has already been credited with saving a life during severe weather.
