DEL CITY, Okla. – A Del City woman has died after suffering burns over much of her body following a fire, a family member confirmed to KFOR.

Joyce Hendrix, 91, was cooking early Tuesday morning when her clothes caught fire.

Officials say Hendrix suffered burns to 30 percent of her body, including her arms, back and leg.

She was able to call 911 for help.

When emergency crews arrived, they had to force their way through the front door where they found Hendrix sitting on the couch, alert, but in pain.

She was transported to the hospital where she later passed away.

Hendrix would have turned 92 next month, a family member told KFOR.
