WTVD reported that Ashley Kotchetov used her son Alex’s book-bag to fight off the fox as they were attacked while walking to their car.

The TV station reported that it happened earlier this week in Fayetteville. The mother is expected to give birth next week.

The mother said they barricaded themselves on top of their truck for about 15 minutes while the fox gnawed on her son’s book-bag.

The mother was not bitten, but did come in contact with the fox’s saliva when she picked up the book bag.

Kotchetov is currently undergoing treatment for rabies. She said her doctor told her she was at greater risk of getting rabies, than the vaccine hurting her unborn child.

Flyers are now posted in the neighborhood warning residents of the attack.
