MIDWEST CITY, Okla.—A special luncheon aimed at encouraging and helping those who are left behind during deployments.
Operation Homefront sponsored the event to help spouses while their loved ones are away serving their country.
Organizers say it can be very difficult for families to make ends meet or handle every situation on their own during deployments that can last months, or even years.
Maj Gen. Rita Aragon, Oklahoma Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs, said, “As our military members deploy all over the world to do that, it is really important for the rest of our who are not in service anymore, who are not in uniform; businesses, civilians, individuals, organizations, civic groups to stand behind those that are deployed by helping those that they left behind who worry about them on a daily basis.”
