GUTHRIE, Okla. – A Guthrie, Okla. man is under arrest and accused of sexually assaulting and beating an 85-year-old woman December 25, 1997.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested David Jerome Stephens, II, 35, at his home in Guthrie on Wednesday.

An OSBI DNA analyst alerted investigators that DNA was a match.

Just days before the statute of limitations would have run out, the agent filed a warrant based off a DNA profile collected from the rape victim.

That warrant allowed the case to stay legally active.

OSBI agents say Moena House was beaten with a pipe and sexually assaulted Christmas morning inside her Guthrie home after giving into her attacker’s demands for money.

House died in 2008.

DNA was collected from Stephens for a 2013 drug conviction.
