ANADARKO, Okla. - One woman is dead and a man had to be taken to a hospital by helicopter, after what the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is calling a homicide.

Agents got the call a little after 1 p.m. Thursday.

The medical examiner is working inside a home on the 600 block of E. Georgia St. trying to determine a cause of death and identify the victim.

"This neighborhood isn’t really that rough. There are parts that are rough, but nothing crazy ever happens around here," said Kellie Melton, who lives across the street. "It’s a sad day. It’s the holidays, family and friends. That’s my friend’s father-in-law, so I feel for them right now, because it’s the holidays, and nobody should be in this situation on the holidays."

People living in the neighborhood told NewsChannel 4 the people inside the house often had loud arguments and were known to be drinkers.

But, many of those people also said the people inside the house were good neighbors, frequently waving when they saw each other.

"Tragedies happen and, when it does it home, tragedy - it doesn’t feel good," said Daniel Ray Boardingham, who told reporters he was a friend of the family affected. "You know, it’s a sad situation, because it’s the holidays."

The OSBI is still investigating the death but said none of the people it interviewed mentioned any suspicious activity leading up to the homicide.
