CUSHING, OK -- A 7-story apartment building filled with disabled seniors is without a working elevator. Residents at the Cimarron Towers Apartment are upset because they say the elevator has been out of service for over two weeks.
Resident Brenda Hayes says she hasn’t left her apartment because she physically can’t walk down the stairs and she lives on the 4th floor of the building.
"The apartment building didn't even warn us that the elevator was going to be shut down," said Hayes. "I want the elevator fixed so people can get out."
Residents say the seniors in the building depend on the elevator. Those we spoke to have no idea when it will be fixed.
"I feel like I'm a prisoner in my own apartment," said Billie Wright, resident.
Thursday afternoon crews were working to fix the elevator. We contacted the apartment manager who told us she had “no comment.” Calls to the property management company were not returned.
