MENASHA, Wis. - A Wisconsin couple was arrested for leaving their 4-year-old child home alone while they went "clowning."

Around 4 a.m. Friday, police were called to reports of people wearing clown masks and chasing after vehicles in Menasha, Wis.

When officers arrived, they located two men, ages 20 and 29, who were involved in the incident, KFOR sister station WITI reports.

They also found a 26-year-old woman who had reportedly been driving the two men around in the neighborhood.

Officials say during the course of their investigation, it was determined the 29-year-old man and 26-year-old woman had left their four-year-old child at home unattended for a minimum of a few hours while they were participating in the clown prank.

"They had left this 4-year-old girl home alone while they decided to go out and do their clowning activities,” Police Chief Tim Styka said, according to WBAY.

As a result, the child was placed by the Department of Human Services outside of the home, WITI reports.

The parents are facing charges for child neglect.

The 20-year-old man was not charged in the incident.
