HOWARD BEACH, N.Y — The parents of slain jogger Karina Vetrano recently opened up about the last conversation they had with their daughter and what they are doing to find their daughter's killer.

It was routine for neighbors to see 30-year-old Karina Vetrano and her father, Phil, run near Howard Beach.

Last week, police say Vetrano decided to run by herself after her father suffered an injury.

“I said, 'I don’t’ think it’s a good idea that you go in there,'" Phil told WPIX. "And she said, 'it’s OK daddy, I’ll be all right.'"

That was the last time Phil spoke to his daughter.

When she didn't immediately return home, her father became worried and called police.

"I got a feeling. It came over me," Phil said. "She was talking to me then. And I got off that couch, and I went looking for her.”

Officials told WPIX that they were able to ping her phone about four hours later, and a search party led by her father found Vetrano's body.

Investigators said that there is evidence Vetrano was strangled and possibly sexually assaulted.

“We’re still in a state of shock,” Cathy, Karina's mom, told WPIX.

"Needless to say, to think of her last moments, are indescribable,” Phil said.

According to WPIX, the Vetranos are trying not to listen to conspiracy theories surrounding their daughter's death.

“I have not been listening to rumors. Whatever slight things that I’ve heard have been, a place that I can’t even go to," Cathy said.

With no break in the case, Phil and Cathy Vetrano have created a GoFundMe account, raising more than $100,000 in reward money that they hope will loosen the lips in their close-knit neighborhood.

"We need some information," the grieving father told KFOR sister station WPIX. "No questions asked."
