LOS ANGELES – A pastor and two members of a California church pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a bizarre and disturbing attack.

Authorities say 56-year-old Lonny Remmers, 24-year-old Nicholas Craig and 30-year-old Darryll Jeter Jr. tortured a 13-year-old boy in a church-run group home where he lived.

According to affidavits, they wanted to “scare” the boy.

At one point, officials say they even drove him to the desert and forced him to dig his own grave.

According to the LA Times, the men rubbed salt in his wounds and even tied him to a chair and sprayed him with mace.

Craig and Jeter pleaded guilty to charges of child abuse and making criminal threats.

Remmers pleaded guilty to charges of inflicting bodily injury on a child and assault with a deadly weapon.
