PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii – Flags are flying at half-staff Sunday in honor of the Americans who died during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

On December 7th, 1941, Japanese planes executed a surprise attack.

The planes dropped bombs on Pearl Harbor, killing more than 2,400 Americans.

Sunday marks the 73 years since that infamous day.

The United States entered World War II because of that attack.

Thousand gathered at Pearl Harbor over the weekend to commemorate the anniversary.
