Pedestrian hit by train in Kingfisher

KINGFISHER, Okla. – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating an incident in Kingfisher involving a pedestrian hit by a train.

Kingfisher Police and Kingfisher Fire/EMS responded to the accident around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dakota Eugene Welch, 23, of Okeene was medi-flighted to OU Med in Oklahoma City.

Officials say Welch was walking southbound on railroad tracks while listening to music and did not hear the train approaching from behind.

The train struck Welch and continued south for a short distance before stopping.

Welch was thrown a short distance from the railroad tracks.
