NORMAN, Okla. – A pedestrian was killed Monday afternoon after being struck by a freight train in Norman.

First responders were called to the scene on Monday afternoon after initial reports indicated that a pedestrian was hit by a train near Constitution and Classen Blvd.

The accident forced several streets to close in the area, and it was not immediately known how long those streets would be inaccessible.

The train is expected to be stopped on the tracks for at least two hours until crews can clear the scene.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

At this point, authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
