COLUMBUS, Ohio - Social media connects us all, but it also leaves us open to criticism or even discrimination.

Samm Newman, an Ohio teen, says Instagram removed her account after she posted a picture of herself in a bra and boy shorts, and that they were wrong to do so.

Now, the  19-year-old is hoping to change the ways social media can affect body image.

She says she's a big girl, she's proud, and she posts lots of body love.

Samm says she was bullied through junior high and high school because of how she looked.

Then she found a new source of support online, by taking part in a body positivity movement on Instagram.

Samm says it was her safe place where should could share anything.

However, Instagram removed Samm's account after it said she violated community guidelines that show nudity or mature content.

Samm says it's a double standard because there are plenty of photos of thin women wearing much less, even nothing.

Did she go too far?
