OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police are investigating an officer involved shooting that ended with a suspect dead.

It happened at an apartment complex near N.W. 42nd and Portland.

A frightened teen called 911 just before 8:30 Monday night.

She said armed suspects were inside her apartment.

“We’re still trying to confirm whether it was a first degree burglary or home invasion. The information we have is there were multiple suspects inside the residence,” OCPD Capt. Paco Balderama said.

Police officers arrived on scene within a matter of minutes.

Police say one officer engaged with one of the suspects.

“Somehow there was a struggle for the officer’s rifle. The suspect was armed,” Capt. Balderama said.

That’s when police say the officer in the struggle fired at the suspect, who then took off running.

Air One and multiple police units searched the area for nearly an hour, looking for several suspects the victim described, and that suspect who was shot by police.

“He was not located until later on when we received a second call stating a shot individual was inside another apartment at a different location,” Capt. Balderama said.

That was at the Newport Apartments at N.W. 39th and Portland, just a couple blocks away.

Police say the suspect died at the scene.

They’re still looking for the others, who are believed to be armed.

Police have identified the name of the deceased suspect as 22-year-old Rodney Turner.
