OKLAHOMA CITY – Officials say a burglary suspect was killed after attempting to break into a home in northwest Oklahoma City.

Police say the homeowner shot the suspect in the 2400 block of N. Moulton Drive around 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

“We received a call of alarm in the area, officers got to the area unsure of the exact address,” Staff Sgt. Billy Payne, with Oklahoma City Police Department, says.

A blaring alarm was the only clue police had at the time.

“The alarm was going off inside the home, they were inside the home when the alarm went off,” Payne said.

A father and son were forced into action in a matter of seconds.

“The call come in from a son stating that his father had shot someone had broke into the home, ” Payne said.

Police say the suspect died as he tried to leave the home.

Authorities are investigating.
