CHOCTAW, Okla. – One man is in custody after a standoff in Choctaw, Okla. Wednesday night.

Police say the woman who lived at the home, near Northeast 36th and Choctaw Rd., left her door open expecting a worker from Oklahoma Natural Gas.

But officers say Terry Barthel, 35, the woman’s estranged husband, made his way into the home.

When the woman and her child returned to the home, Barthel tried to barricade them inside the house.

The woman and child escaped and called 911.

When officers got there they found the suspect extremely intoxicated and refusing to surrender.

More officers, armed in heavy gear showed up to the scene.

When Barthel came to the door, one of the officers fired a bean bag round and hit him in the hand, and that’s when he ran back inside.

Barthel surrendered a short time later.
