MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - Officers are now investigating a shooting near an apartment complex in Midwest City Saturday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the Midwest Pointe Apartments around 3 p.m. Saturday on reports of both a shooting and a car accident.

Officials say two people were driving down the road when they got into an argument.

The argument escalated and one man shot the other.

During the exchange, the car hopped a curb and hit several cars.  One of the apartment residents said he heard it happen, but didn't realize the severity of what was going on.  “I just hear a loud bang.  I didn’t think nothing of it, until maybe five minutes later when I heard a lot of commotion in the paring lot," Pierre Hayes told News 4.  "I come out and discover there is caution tape around the parking lot.”

Anthony Patton owns the red suburban that was hit.  He says the vehicle was totaled, and now he's stuck with the bill.  “You see how it is, you know what I’m saying? It’s done, there ain't nothing I can do about it," Patton said.  "They said the dude doesn’t have insurance, so that’s another problem.”

The victim has been transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is in custody.
