OKLAHOMA CITY - Authorities are looking for a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred late Friday night in Oklahoma City.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at a party near NW 13th and May Ave. just before midnight. It happened at at a Next Level, a venue police say caters to people under 21.

“There were several people that were inside of that building," said Sgt. Jeff Dutton with Oklahoma City Police. "Most of them are going to be juveniles.”

According to police, a single male victim was killed, and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

“Every weekend that it’s open there are gunshots or a fight," said Brittany Jones, a mom of five who lives nearby. "And, there are always people running back to their cars.”

Both lanes of May Avenue in the area were closed until investigators could reduce the scene down further.

Police tell News 4 that several people who were present, including minors, are being interviewed by homicide detectives.

The events leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.

The suspect is said to be an African American male, but no other identifying markers have been released.
