OKLAHOMA CITY - It’s been weeks since 31-year-old Sylvia Serrato was found dead in her home and police have not made an arrest.

They are hoping new evidence will bring them closer to her killer.

“It’s a picture of a male. He’s walking in the backyard on the same day as the homicide. He has no business back there. We don’t know who he is, and no one at this point has been able to identify him,” said Gary Knight, Oklahoma City police.

Or, if the man in the photo played a role in Serrato’s death.

It was a Wednesday night in October when a call came in to police.

A woman, later identified as Serrato, was found not moving.

When the officer arrived at the home on S.E. 43rd in Oklahoma City, he was flagged down by someone who told him there was a woman in the backroom of the house who was “cold.”

According to police reports, when the officer went into the room, he found Serrato “laying in the bed with a blanket covering her from her feet to her neck.”

When the officer pulled back the blanket to check on her, he “noticed a lot of blood on her body and she appeared to be still.”

Police said the trauma to her body consistent with homicide.

A crime scene was set up, and homicide detectives were called in to investigate.

According to the Oklahoma County Medical Examiner’s Office, Serrato died from a "gunshot wound to the head.”

The final report is not complete, but they are hoping it will reveal more information about how Serrato died.

A far as a motive, police are not sure if her past played a part in her death but said Serrato has felony drug convictions for intent to distribute and neighbors said they have reported suspected drug activity at Serrato’s home to police.

If you have any information about the crime or if you recognize the man in the photo, call 405-297-1126.
