Police respond to shooting in Stillwater apartments

STILLWATER, Okla. – Stillwater police responded to a shooting around 7 p.m. Monday at the Stonegate apartments at 1815 N. Boomer Road, according to O’Colly.

LifeNet transported one victim from the scene with a gunshot wound to the left chest.

According to Stillwater News Press, the shooting was self-inflicted during a domestic dispute.

Several witnesses on the scene said a man and woman, believed to be his girlfriend, were fighting.

A witness said the man was holding a baby whole arguing with the woman and, after she demanded he give her the baby, he shot himself in the chest.

According to officials, the victim is 21-year-old James Elbert Thomas who had recently moved to Stillwater from Wichita, KS.

Thomas is reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators are still on scene trying to determine what occurred.
