Police search for suspect in fatal hit and run

SHAWNEE, Okla.– Police are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that took the life of a 63 year-old male utility worker.

The accident took place on Westech Road Wednesday afternoon.

The identify of the victim is not being released until the family has been notified.

The suspected vehicle is a white truck with a black flatbed.

According to witnesses the driver attempted to pass another vehicle traveling north and struck the utility worker, who was standing on Westech, just west of Kickapoo near Shawnee’s Industrial park.

Witnesses said the truck left the scene continuing north on Kickapoo before turning east on Garrett’s Lake road, Shawnee Police Officer Richard Rider said.

Officer Rider also stated the suspect vehicle would have damage to the front driver’s side.
