OKLAHOMA CITY - Police are searching for a group of thieves who targeted a local doughnut shop.

On Sept. 26, officers were called to a robbery at Willy's Donuts, located at 6019 S. May Ave.

Authorities say four men walked into the store and demanded cash from the cashier.

Wearing a mask and dark hoodie, with two other suspects running in the background, a thief pushes buttons on the cash register but it won't open.

"I saw three guys with masks," said the business owner Piseth Keo.

When Keo's employee tried to take the key out of the register, the crook in yellow decks him in the face.

Seconds later, the thieves jump over the counter and the clerk did as he's taught, by not resisting and escaping further injury.

"We don't need to do anything, just hold hands like this and just give it all to them," said Keo.

After the suspects tried unsuccessfully for 30 seconds to open the register, they change plans and rip the entire thing off the shelf.

"He could not open it so he took the whole thing and walked out," said Keo.

"This is a brazen crime," said Oklahoma City police MSgt. Gary Knight.

Police say while four suspects committed the crime, only three were caught on camera.

"You do get a decent look at the them, although their faces are covered, you see the clothes and the way they move. We hope it'll be enough that someone who knows them will recognize them," said Knight.

At just 80 cents a doughnut, with 800 dollars in cash and property stolen, the business would have to sell a thousand donuts to make up for the loss.

That's why the owner hopes the crooks are quickly caught.

"Hopefully the police can catch them as soon as possible," said Keo.

Luckily, aside from a few bruises the clerk wasn't seriously hurt in the holdup.
