OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- A 70-year-old woman was beaten in the head and police say it was all for her purse.

Officers are on the hunt for the two men who committed the crime and police say an odd clue was found at the scene.

Around 11:30 Thursday morning, August 14, a parking lot near the 6400 block of Northwest Expressway became the woman's place of terror.

"The 70-year-old female was standing outside of a business when she was approached by 2 men, demanded her purse, assaulted her, beat her and made off with her purse and then assaulted and made off with her purse and the items inside of it," Sgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department says.

The police report says one of the men took out a black handgun and told her to drop it, meaning the purse and when she told them she didn't know what he was talking about, they hit her several times and grabbed the purse.

"As far as we know right now, these two men, this is the only robbery that we know of," Sgt. Knight said.

Police say oddly enough they found a black toy handgun lying next to the victim.

"It was a toy gun recovered at the scene, either way you're making someone believe you have a pistol you're pointing it at them and trying to place them in fear of their life so they could hand over their belongings so either way it's still an armed robbery," Sgt. Knight says.

Oklahoma City police tell us the woman's stolen credit card that was in her purse was used the same day at a convenience store a couple of blocks away.

The alleged suspects are described as follows:

  • Black man, standing 5'9" tall and weighing 250 pounds.
  • Black man, standing 6'0" tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing plaid shorts and a beige t-shirt.
