NORMAN, Okla. - Police say a domestic disturbance suspect in Norman is now in custody.

The public was asked Thursday afternoon to avoid the area near 24th Ave. N.W. and Dakota.

Cleveland Elementary was on lockdown temporarily as a precaution, since school was let out earlier.

Police said a male pointed a gun at officers and then took off, making his way into an apartment.

Police said there were others inside the apartment but that it was not a hostage or barricade situation.

Thursday evening, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Two women also willingly came out of the apartment.

Officials say they had to use tear gas to get the suspect out.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was treated at the scene for gas inhalation.

He was arrested for felonious pointing a firearm at an officer.
