HUDSON, Mich. – Human remains that were discovered on a couple’s property in Michigan are believed to be pre-historic.
JoAnne Shaffer and her husband sell gravel from their Michigan property, which requires constant excavation.
Shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday, workers discovered human skeletal remains.
Michigan State Police called Michigan State University’s anthropology department to help investigate the remains.
The anthropologists believe the bones are that of a Native American man between 400 and 1,000-years-old.
“It blows our mind, honestly,” Shaffer told NBC 24. “Actually, I’m sort of glad it’s not somebody more recent. There are so many families that are missing loved ones right now so I’m kind of glad that it’s not someone more recent.”
