LONDON – It s official: Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their first child.

In a statement released Monday, the Palace confirmed the pregnancy saying everyone, including the Queen, is delighted with the news.

The announcement was made after the Duchess was reportedly admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with acute morning sickness.

Surprise, surprise: she wasn’t ill, just pregnant.

Kate is expected to stay in the hospital for several days and according to palace officials, will require a period of rest thereafter.

Whether boy or girl, the child will be behind Prince William in the line of succession to the throne, Cabinet Office officials said.
