INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - An Indiana man is facing 17 charges after police say he went on a "Purge-style" crime spree last month.

Authorities told FOX 59 that Jonathan Cruz killed Billy Boyd and Jay Higginbotham on May 12.

Just a few days later, Cruz is accused of killing Jose Ruiz inside his car.

Court documents allege that Cruz picked his victims at random, adding that he made references to the movie "The Purge."

"The Purge" is 2013 horror film about a time each year when all crime is legal for 12 hours.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry says that Cruz went on a four-day 'one-man purge.'

Cruz is also accused of kidnapping, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, armed robbery, criminal gang enhancement and pointing a firearm.
