NORMAN, Okla.--A rude awakening for neighbors in Norman who woke up Friday morning to find racist and offensive graffiti spray painted on cars and garages.

"It's just wrong and hateful," said victim Linda Brabson."We are an interracial couple so of course, it was offensive of course, but kind of scary that someone would tag something like that on your car."

Swastikas, and racial slurs were spray painted in gold across the neighborhood.

Three cars and two garages were hit on three different streets in southwestern Norman.

Neighbors say what is most upsetting is knowing someone was so close to their homes while they slept.

"Is it something that we need to worry about? Somebody watching us? Because they did hit several people in the neighborhood," said Brabson.

Many of the victims spent the day trying to remove the graffiti.

Police had hoped a homeowner might have surveillance footage that would help in the investigation, but none has surfaced.

Investigators are asking anyone who might have information to contact the Norman Police Department.
