OKLAHOMA CITY – Fire investigators are still working to figure out what caused a raging house fire in northwest Oklahoma City.
Just before midnight, Oklahoma City firefighters were called to a house fire near N.W. 44th St. and Western Ave.
The first crews on the scene reported heavy flames pouring from the home.
As one team of firefighters worked to get the fire under control, a second team began trying to protect other buildings in the neighborhood.
In addition to battling the blaze, fire crews also had to deal with a downed power line in the backyard.
Fortunately, the family was able to make it out of the home unharmed.
One resident told firefighters that he “smelled smoke and 30 seconds later heard a popping sound coming from the back of the house.”
So far, a cause of the fire has not been determined.
Fire officials estimate the blaze did about $100,000 worth of damage.
