NEW YORK – As if swimming from Cuba to Florida wasn’t enough, Diana Nyad is already back in the water.

She’s not in the ocean this time, Nyad is doing laps in a makeshift lap pool in Herald Square in New York City.

She’ll spend 48 hours in the pool, swimming to benefit AmeriCare’s Hurricane Sandy relief on the year anniversary of the disastrous storm.

Nyad started swimming at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and won’t stop until 8:30 am. Thursday.

She has already raised more than $40,000.

The record-breaking swimmer isn’t stopping there.

Later this fall she will also swim laps for victims of last year’s Boston Marathon bombing.

Then she is scheduled to come to Oklahoma to raise money for tornado victims.
