TEXAS COUNTY, Mo. (KTVI) – Nine people are dead following several shootings in Missouri, which police say may be connected.

Around 10:15 p.m., police received a call from a juvenile saying she heard gunshots near her home.

When officers arrived, they found two people dead inside a nearby residence.

Authorities say they also discovered five other bodies in three separate homes.

One other victim, who was wounded in the attack, was rushed to a local hospital.

Police also found the body of a deceased elderly female who may have died from natural causes.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Tyrone, was found dead in a vehicle in Shannon County.

He suffered from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“In our job, we see a lot of bad stuff and this is bad. This is also hard on the police officers who are working that, it’s not natural to see that sort of thing,” said Sgt. Jeff Kinder, with the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Investigators are expected to release more information on Friday.

The names of the victims have not been released.
