OKLAHOMA CITY – Residents on south Shartel say two pitbulls are terrorizing the neighborhood. They believe the dogs are killing cats and leaving the mangled corpses up and down the street.

“It’s devastating to see dead animals everywhere,” said Tabitha Walls. “They’ve chewed holes through two of the fences on both sides of their house.”

Denise Stark doesn’t have any pets but she said the pits next door attacked two cats in her backyard.

“They pulled those cats into the backyard and just massacred them on the ground,” said Denise Stark. “It’s pretty scary especially for the kids that walk this neighborhood and the older people.”

Walls said, “There are a lot of people here in the neighborhood who won’t even let their children out in the front yard anymore. The neighbors who live next door to these people will not let their children jump on the trampoline in their backyard.”

Walls said the dogs left several puncture wounds in her 13-year-old cat named Patches.

She says the attack cost her family a $700 vet bill.

OKC Animal control was called out but officials say their hands are tied.

“We can’t go on there without just cause and take someone’s animal without some sort of probable cause they have committed an offense,” said Trace Lyons.

He said they did speak with the owners about how to keep them in their yard and the dogs seemed to be well cared for.

No one came to the door when we tried to talk to the dog owners. We did however speak with the property management company.

News Channel 4 cameras were rolling when a court officer showed up.

“We served them with papers to vacate the house,” the administer said.

The property management company says the renters are not even supposed to have dogs per their lease agreement.

The family has been told they can no longer live in that house.
